Green Homes Grant

Do you want to save on your energy bill and ensure that your home is warm in the winter and cool in the summer? The Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery Scheme can provide up to £10,000 per household for improvements to the efficiency of homes. The scheme is only available for homes that leak heat the most (those have an EPC rated D or below). Households also need to earn less than £30,000 (including all benefits) to qualify.

Groundwork London is helping screen residents for 10 London boroughs.

The installation of the measures will be handled by a contractor arranged by your local authority or housing association after a survey of your house to see what you might need. Types of measures that could be installed include:

  • Loft, cavity wall, floor, roof and solid wall insulation
  • New heating controls, radiators and heat pumps
  • Window and door upgrades.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the grant have to be repaid?

NO! The home upgrade works will be fully funded, with money paid directly to the installer on your behalf through the GHG:LAD scheme.

What improvements are included under the scheme?

Any home improvement which improves the energy rating of the property may be included. We will focus on wall, floor, loft, and roof insulation, low carbon heat systems (such as air source heat pumps), energy efficient doors and windows, heating controls and hot water tank insulation.

Are there measures not included?

Gas boiler repairs and replacement are not part of the scheme, however boiler replacement may be carried out under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) grant program alongside the GHG:LAD. Existing double-paned windows may not be replaced, however single-paned windows are eligible for replacement with double or triple paned glass or secondary glazing.

How will quality be guaranteed?

All installers and contractors for the GHG:LAD scheme are TrustMark and MCS registered. All works are overseen by certified project managers and Retrofit Coordinators.

Who will manage the installation of the works?

Everwarm arranges the assessment, design, and installation of energy efficiency measures, like central heating or insulation, on behalf of the GHG:LAD West London coalition.

After receiving referrals to the scheme, Everwarm manages the whole customer journey from the moment of referral through to installation and inspection.

I do not meet the income or EPC-rating criteria, can I still participate in the Green Homes Grant?

Yes! Even if you are not eligible for the Local Authority Delivery Scheme, you may still apply for the Green Homes Grant Voucher scheme by visiting https://www.simpleenergyadvice.org.uk. All homeowners and landlords in England may apply for a grant of £5,000 to cover 2/3 of work, and residents in receipt of benefits may qualify for up to £10,000 to cover 100% of works. The Voucher scheme ends 31 March 2022.

Can Landlords participate?

Yes! Private landlords and housing associations may apply for a GHG:LAD grant on behalf of tenants who meet the eligibility criteria. Landlords are eligible for up £5,000 to cover 2/3 of energy efficiency work. This means you can get up to £7,500 worth of measures installed for a maximum contribution of £2,500.

Can Landlords include multiple properties?

Yes! If you have multiple eligible properties within the participating boroughs, you may put as many forward for works as you would like, provided you are able to contribute the 1/3 matching funds.

Am I limited to £7,500 worth of works?

The maximum grant award for Landlords is £5,000 per property, however, you may agree to additional works with the scheme manager, including those covered by the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) grant.
